The Backbone

Introduction

This is day one of our European vacation.

We’ve got settled in on the 21st of July.

Little bit of noise in the background there with the trains flying around in Paris.

I’ve got the backdrop here of the River Seine.

In today’s vlog I want to talk about the backbone in your business and what that really means.

There’s a reason why all the major cities are on the major waterways.

Obviously, London is on the Thames, Paris on the Seine.

This particular river is 777 kilometres, 483 miles, ends up in Le Havre in the English Channel.

But critically, a little bit of research I’ve done today, is there’s 37 bridges in the Paris District alone and some real famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame.

When we go back to the backbone and the backbone of your business, for us here at Mike Midgley Executive, it’s always business strategy, it’s business growth.

We get a lot of deal flow over this table, whether that’s saying,

“Hey Mike, will you look at this deal? Or, “Will you look at that deal?” “I want to do more marketing.”

Or, “I want to open new markets.”

But it always goes back to strategy and I suppose that’s what we are really known for: the business strategy, the business growth.

From that, we really grow that out, whether that’s into non-exec coaching, Infusionsoft.

But how can you really get that to the next level?

What are you going to do with your backbone in your business?

Whether that be industrial, residential, commercial, B2B, B2C.

Whatever you’re actually known for;

  • What’s your River Seine?
  • What’s your backbone?
  • How are you going to know about that?
  • How can you be known better for that, and dominate your space?

Specific Marketplace Of The Small To Medium Entrepreneur

So, a little bit more exciting news for you: myself, Jamie, Katie, Alasdair, we’ve been working damn hard over the last four weeks.

For a lot of you guys who work with us in the digital marketing space.

You know that we’re very proud and we’re very committed to Infusionsoft and that serves a specific marketplace of the small to medium entrepreneurs.

But we’ve been working really, really hard over the last five or six weeks with a new company called HubSpot.

If you guys are not familiar with HubSpot, it’s more of a medium, moving up to enterprise-level piece of software similar to Infusionsoft, major analytics platform.

I’m really, really, really pleased.

Even though I’m on holiday and I’m doing this video and it’s all about the backbone, the connection, really, for us is, how are you going to go to the next level?

How are you going to diversify and do the next thing?

For us, it’s going up a level, it’s taking that two, three, five, ten-million-pound market and we’re going to utilise HubSpot.

You heard it first:Mike Midgley Executive, we’re going to be HubSpot-certified partners.

We start that project in August when we’re back home after this European vacation.

So, it’s Friday evening, 21st of July.

Thanks for tuning in.

I’m going to be doing something like this, making relative comparisons for you throughout the vacation as we tour France and Switzerland and Italy and things like that.

So, today’s the backbone.

What is your River Seine?

For us it’s business strategy.

What’s yours?

Think about it.

Learn how you can dominate your space.

Learn how you can really command that and be known for it and respected for it, a little bit like Volvo is known for safe cars or Google is known for search engines, McDonald’s for fast food.

How can you really do that?

But once you’ve got that, that’s not the time to sit back.

That’s the time to go again.

Like for us, whilst we’ve dominated the business strategy, the business growth area, utilising Infusionsoft for small businesses, we’re now, actually, going to go and try and leverage that into the medium with the HubSpot.

So a big thanks to Mike Midgley Executive Team: Alasdair, Jamie, Katie, Gary.

We’ve got Rebecca on the content team, we’ve got Andrew on the web team.

We’ve all been working hard to get this deal together.

It looks like it’s more or less over the line and then we’re going to go again.

What Are You Known As In Your Industry?

So what I love to do is, if you can leave me a comment below, let me know two things.

Number one, let me know what you are known for in your industry.

If you’re not, start thinking about what you want to be known for in your industry.

Number two, let me know what you want to be known for in your industry.

What’s the next thing that you want to go for to really make it to the next level?

So you heard it here first.

I’ll check in with you tomorrow.

But we’re going to do a tour of Paris tomorrow and we’ll be doing a little bit more rough-and-ready videos with some handheld stuff.

But what I do also want to leave you with: I’ve brought this book away with me to read while I’m away.

So Good They Can’t Ignore You, by Cal Newport.

I’m only about 18 or 20 pages in there, but it’s pretty, pretty awesome.

So whatever you want to be known for, I’d recommend that you pick this up.

Cal Newport, So Good They Can’t Ignore You.

I’ll give you some more feedback out of that throughout the next couple or three weeks, while we’re touring.
