The One Significant Difference


What is the one thing that you can do today that makes a significant difference to your business?

So that is, what is the one thing that you can do in your business today that’s going to make a significant difference?

Now, depends on which side you’re looking at this.

Is that significant difference for a benefit to you?

Or is that a significant difference about how you can help others?

It doesn’t really matter, whatever frame of mind you’re in.

BNI & My 60 Second Pitch

To me, it’s been attending a BNI meeting as a substitute for my son Jamie Midgley, he was on holiday and while I was asked to stand up as a substitute member and give a 60-second pitch.

Out of the 90-minute meeting, my significant difference has been sat there listening to the other 25 or so members and visitors about who they are, how they help customers and ultimately what type of business they’re looking for and how to refer them.

I did more listening than talking and my pad on my BNI is full and I’m going to take an additional hour when I get back to the office this morning to write to each of them on an email, thanking them for their presentations.

Also, I’m going to sort of start making referrals out of my black book which is rather significant in depth over the last 20 or so years.

I believe just by attending this meeting I can make seven referrals, qualified referrals, not blind ass referrals.

I’m talking about qualified referrals where I know that I can actually help.

Now out of 25 members in that group and two visitors, if I can make seven referrals, you can work out what the stat is there.

What is that 35 or 40% of that meeting?

That’s just by listening, getting up early, and attempting to listen to what these people need.

Then I’m going to go and give those referrals today.

That helps my son Jamie while he’s on holiday, that his referral rate goes up.

So my significant difference today is;

  • To listen
  • How I can help people
  • Then take action upon it, go and make those referrals.

So I’m going to challenge you today, what can you do to significantly make a difference to your business or somebody else’s lives and will you take action on it.
