Today, I want to focus on something that could have a profound impact on your business, your circle.
I’m talking about the people you associate with, the people you surround yourself with, both inside and outside of business.
Sometimes, the people who are not involved in business, your friends or family can hold you back without even realizing it.
Complacency and comfort in your current position can be a huge cost to your business. So, let’s ask the hard question:
Are the people around you pushing you to grow or keeping you stuck?
I’m not suggesting that you abandon your entire social circle or burn bridges.
What I’m proposing is that you evaluate and align yourself with quality individuals who will challenge you and help you move forward.
This blog post was inspired by a Gary Vee video I watched recently.
Many of you may already be familiar with Gary Vee, the CEO of VaynerMedia, a global A-lister, and an entrepreneurial powerhouse.
He’s known for his direct, unfiltered approach to business and life, he’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but his style works for many.
In this three-minute video, WARNING EXPLICIT CONTENT!!!! Gary talks about the importance of auditing your circle. He emphasizes how critical it is to get rid of one 'loser' friend and replace them with one 'winner.'
If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend checking it out.
For thos who prefer to keep reading, I’ll summarize the key points for you here.
It’s essential to understand that we are, in part, the sum of the people we associate with.
If you have negative people in your circle, whether they’re employees, business partners, or friends, they can hold you back.
These people might not necessarily be 'bad' people; they might simply be complacent. They’re happy where they are and not willing to take risks or try new things.
This can be extremely limiting for a business owner or entrepreneur. If you're constantly surrounded by people who are content with mediocrity, you might find it challenging to push yourself and your business to the next level.
Think about it:
Gary Vee talks about how he plugged himself into the Silicon Valley world through networking on Meetup.com and SXSW conference, and how that dramatically changed his life.
By surrounding himself with like-minded, driven people, he was able to accelerate his growth. If you’re not plugged into a network of positive, ambitious people, then you're missing out on the power of association.
What if you could surround yourself with a circle of positive, forward thinking individuals?
People who challenge you to grow and who push you to strive for success?
One of the things we’ve started at our global GTM RevOps agency at 6teen30 Digital is creating a mastermind group where positive, like-minded people come together.
We’re still debating whether we should host these webinars monthly or bring people in for one-on-one sessions, but the idea is clear: it’s about fostering a space for personal development and growth.
We don’t charge for this, it's about bringing people together who are committed to going to the next level. It’s a space where you can learn from others, share your own knowledge, and ultimately elevate your business.
So, here’s a thought for you today:The success of your business doesn’t just depend on your skills or your idea, it depends on the people around you.
Your circle can either lift you up or pull you down.
So, make it a priority to audit your circle regularly.
Align yourself with those who inspire you, challenge you, and hold you accountable.
If you want to take your business to the next level, you need to surround yourself with people who are also pushing to get better.
Whether that’s through networking groups, mastermind sessions, or just having the right people in your office, don’t underestimate the power of a supportive, growth-driven circle.
You’ll be amazed at how it transforms your mindset and business.
Always here to help you start, grow, and thrive. Let me know how I can support your next big move.
